Working Hard Again
I worked hard for about a week, and it has been therapeutic.
Just working every minute I have free and my mind is awake.
Not having a difference between work and rest…
I am somebody who has a hard time working from 8 to 18, it just doesn’t work.
I like to take long breaks and I’m disorganized (regarding time)
But in the end, I do my hours, and I think about the problem I’m working on in my break time.
Having a girlfriend, working like this is hard (impossible?)
In the evening, we have a rule where we don’t use our phones (because otherwise, we kinda neglect each other). This means that I cannot work either. This removes easily 4 hours of the day for me, which means less time for working, sadly.
I think that the best is to have 3 kinds of days:
- “hard days”: I’ll work hard and ignore anything else
- “soft days”: I’ll schedule calls, do some administrative stuff, write blog posts…
- “rest days”: I’ll just go out and have a day with my girlfriend
How to work hard even with a girlfriend
I think what matters is to keep her busy, lol.
And one thing also is predictably.
I need to know when I can focus, without having fear of being interrupted, or thinking about something else.
I need to inform her: tomorrow, I’m going to work hard, and not do administrative stuff. Please don’t ask me about how the VISA / doctor / etc is doing, I don’t want to think about them.
Great work is done in streaks – working hard 3 days in a row on something will bring more success than working half a day, then half a day administrative work, etc. It’s just so demotivating to do many things at the same time.
As you guessed it, today is a “soft day”. I’ve been doing calls and fixing small things here and here. This kind of work is important too.
